iReach
iReach is a platform for cisgender and transgender teen boys who identify as gay, bisexual, or are questioning. It includes a vast variety of life skill resources, including: going through puberty, how to apply for colleges, how to navigate social situations you might encounter in high school, signs of a healthy versus unhealthy relationships, and more. It also has decision-guiding activities to help teens figure out: if it’s safe to come out to friends and family, if they actually feel ready to have sex, what parts of their identity are most important to them, and more.
This project was a collaboration between teams at the University of Michigan, Penn State, and Emory University. As the lead designer, I was in charge of:
- Creating a brand identity and visual design system
- Vetting images and GIFs that would appeal to our teen audience
- Consulting on the best userflows
- Designing prototypes and UI elements for every page of the platform
- Making custom illustrations and infographics to make our content more visually interesting for our audience
I worked closely with the project managers, behavioral scientists, and software developers, and provided front-end development (HTML/LESS/jQuery) to bring my designs to life.
